Terms of Use

Use of SonaCap

SonaCap provides transcription, subtitle, and translation assistance for convenience. You are responsible for how you use the app and for complying with third-party website terms, platform rules, copyright rules, and local laws.

Accuracy and Availability

Captions and translations may be inaccurate, incomplete, delayed, mistranslated, or unavailable. Audio quality, background noise, language choice, device performance, network conditions, iOS Broadcast behavior, Apple Speech, Apple Translation, and local fallback models may all affect results.

Do not rely on SonaCap for emergency, medical, legal, safety-critical, financial, navigation, or other high-stakes decisions.

Health and Comfort

Captions may update quickly. Stop using the app immediately if rapid text changes, subtitles, video, or screen motion cause dizziness, eye strain, nausea, headache, discomfort, or any other adverse symptoms.

Third-Party Content

SonaCap does not control third-party apps, websites, videos, audio, or their content. You are responsible for complying with third-party terms, copyright rules, platform rules, and local laws.

Do not use SonaCap to access, transcribe, translate, or distribute content in a way that violates applicable rights, platform rules, or laws.

Intellectual Property

The SonaCap / 声幕 name, app design, app content, website text, and related materials are owned by Xuanbei Lu or applicable licensors. Third-party app names, website names, services, trademarks, videos, audio, and other content remain owned by their respective owners.

These terms do not give you permission to copy, redistribute, reverse engineer, or misuse SonaCap or any third-party content accessed through SonaCap.

Speech Recognition and Translation Services

SonaCap's first iPhone release requires iOS 26 or later because realtime translation depends on Apple's Translation framework and system-managed language resources.

SonaCap may use iOS Broadcast, Apple Speech, Apple Translation, and local fallback speech recognition models to provide captions and translations. By default, Apple Speech recognition is required to run on device when supported by the selected input language. Translation uses Apple's Translation framework and system-managed language resources, which may require downloaded language packs. These services, models, and language resources may change, fail, return incomplete results, or become unavailable.

If translation keeps showing that a language pack is downloading or preparing, install or open Apple's Translate app, download the selected input and output languages there, and use Translate to check the download progress.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Xuanbei Lu is not responsible for losses, damages, decisions, missed information, discomfort, or other negative outcomes resulting from use of, or inability to use, SonaCap.
