Common Help

What iOS version do I need?

SonaCap's first iPhone release requires iOS 26 or later. Realtime translation depends on Apple's Translation framework and system-managed language resources, and iOS 26 provided the stable translation behavior used for this release.

How do I start realtime audio translation?

Open SonaCap, choose input and output languages, tap the Broadcast button, select SonaCap Capture, and start Broadcast. Then play audio in the built-in browser or another app while SonaCap remains open.

Why do captions sometimes lag or miss words?

Speech recognition and translation quality can be affected by audio quality, background noise, language choice, device performance, iOS Broadcast behavior, Apple Speech, Apple Translation, and local fallback models.

Is speech recognition local?

By default, SonaCap requires Apple Speech to process speech recognition on device when the selected input language supports it. You can change Local Apple Speech in the app's About menu.

Is translation local?

SonaCap uses Apple's Translation framework and system-managed language resources for translation. Some language pairs may require an Apple language pack download before translation is available.

If translation keeps showing that a language pack is downloading or preparing, install or open Apple's Translate app, download the selected input and output languages there, and use Translate to check the download progress.

Does webpage text translation count toward the audio trial?

No. Webpage text translation is separate from realtime audio subtitle translation. Realtime audio subtitles include 5 cumulative free minutes before SonaCap Unlock is required.

How do I restore a purchase?

Open SonaCap, go to About > Purchase & Restore, and use Restore Purchase.
